7 Days Mount Kenya Naromoru down Sirimon And Samburu Camping Safari
Day 1: Nairobi/ Naro
moru
Depart Nairobi in the morning for Naro
moru Town
arriving for lunch. Proceed to Naro
moru Youth Hostels
for acclimatization for the rest of the day. Dinner
and overnight.
Day 2: Met Station
Depart after breakfast and drive to Naro
moru Park
Gate. After registration start your hike through the
rain forest for about 9 km with picnic lunch en route
to Met Station (3050m) for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Mackinders Camp
After breakfast proceed with your ascend covering over
14km (5-6 hrs) to Mackinders Camp (4300m) with picnic
lunch en-route. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Old Moses
Depart early morning at 3.00am to attempt point
Lenana(4985m) - 3½ hrs arriving at 6.30am for sunrise.
After sunrise descend to Shipton Camp for breakfast,
then further down to Old Moses camp (3300m) for dinner
and overnight.
Day 5: Mt Kenya - Samburu
After breakfast descend 9 km to the Sirimon Gate where the safari guide will be waiting. Drive north through the semi rugged desert region
arriving Samburu late afternoon. Do a short game drive en route. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.
Day 6: Samburu
Full day in Samburu with morning and afternoon game drive, optional visit to Samburu villages. Samburu Game Reserve has rare species e.g. Reticulated giraffes, grevy's zebra, kuchi, Beisa oryx's, Somali Ostrich, genenuk, vulturine, guinea fowl among others. Meals and overnight at the campsite.
Day 7: Nairobi
Pre-breakfast game drive, after breakfast depart for Nairobi arriving in the afternoon.

Mount Kenya National Park
Mt. Kenya National Park is located to the east of the Great Rift Valley, about 175km North-East of Nairobi. The ecosystem lies in Central and Eastern provinces of Kenya. At 5,199m the mountain is the second highest peak in Africa. Mt. Kenya is an important water tower in the country. It provides water for about 50% of the country’s population and produces 70% of Kenya’s hydroelectric power.
UNESCO inscribed Mount Kenya as a World Heritage Site. It’s described as one of the most impressive landscapes in Eastern Africa with its rugged glacier-clad summits, Afro-alpine moorlands and diverse forests that illustrate outstanding ecological processes.
The attraction of Mount Kenya include impressive landscape, rugged glacier clad summit, afro alpine moorland, forests, wildlife and over 800 recorded plant species of which 81 species are endemic to the area. Mount Kenya is the only free standing mountain in the world with permanent glaciers.
Mount Kenya has three major climbing routes, this include Sirimon route, Chogoria route and Naro
moru Route. Accommodation is inform of mountain huts, one can also camp around the mountain huts and use the mountain huts facilities.
Samburu Game Reserve
Samburu a magical haven of beauty on Kenya's northern frontier home to an astonishing population of wildlife including several species unique to the region like the Reticulated Giraffe Grevy's Zebra Gerenuk and the blue legged Ostrich. The Reserve is also home to lion cheetah buffalo and look out for the shy leopard lying lazily on a tree. You will also see large herds of elephant making their way to the muddy waters of the Ewaso Nyiro River in the morning or on their way up to the hills in the evening.
Samburu offers vistas of rounded, rugged hills and undulating plains. The mix of wood and grassland with riverine forest and swamp home to a wide variety of birds. Samburu and its neighbouring Buffalo Springs has recorded over 400 species of birds. Game viewing is excellent all year round. At sunset, Doum palms form breathtaking silhouettes against the red and gold streaked sky.
